The female can give birth to between 3 and 12 babies, up to 5 times a year.

Rabbits have constantly growing incisors that they have to wear down by gnawing on hard foods. They are lagomorphs and not rodents because they have 4 incisors on the upper jaw instead of 2. Fearful, they live in groups and dig burrows. The doe gives birth to 3 to 12 young up to 5 times a year. Gestation lasts 1 month and the young rabbits are suckled for 1 to 2 months. Their longevity is 5 to 8 years on average and up to 15 years. They feed on grass, fruits and vegetables and are kept for their meat and as pets.
