It runs very fast and stands very straight!

It is a breed with origin in Asia and imported into Europe by the English in the 19th century for its impressive egg-laying capacities (on average 200 eggs per cane per year!). Now found around the world as an ornamental duck, it owes its popularity to its gait and the fact that it is useful in controlling the slugs and snails that feature on its diet. Crosses have made it possible to obtain different colors for this breed. Females lay eggs from the age of 6 months and brooding lasts about 28 days.
